Shine

ShineShine, An AIGA DC Mentoring Initiative

Register and return application by December 2.

The learning curve is steep, the key commands are complex, the page count is long; that is why you are here.

Shine is a four-month mentoring program from January to April designed to fertilize the career growth and professional success of emerging designers. Mentors and mentees will come together and work hand-in-hand to identify the mentee’s career goals and aspirations. Then, over the next four months, mentors will provide advice and guidance as they show their mentees the ropes.

Potential Mentees
Do you wish you had some insight into what design professionals think of your work? Ever wonder what a “real” design firm looks like? Are you curious what you’ll actually be doing when you graduate? How do projects come to life? Is it magic?

Potential Mentors
Do you remember all the mistakes you made when you first graduated? Ever wish you were back in design school and you had a semester to complete your projects? Do you want to share with recent college graduates what the real world is like?

Now accepting applications for mentors (professional members) and mentees (non-members and associate AIGA members who have 1-4 years of experience) for Spring 2012. Once mentors and mentees have applied, our mentoring committee will match you based on your interests and desired career path. Later at the kickoff, you’ll meet your mentor/mentee, hear great ideas for how to start your partnership and the specifics of the program itself.

Prices for Registration

  • Associate AIGA member and non-members who have 1-4 years of experience (mentees) – $20
  • Professional AIGA members (mentors) – Free

Mentor participation is open to AIGA Members only. Not a member yet? Join today.

Please note: Your application does not guarantee a spot into the program. Because of the need to match on an even basis, applications will be approved based on the number of mentors/mentees that apply and if any have to be put on a wait list for 2012, money will be refunded accordingly. After you register online, you’ll get an email with questions to answer by December 9. Applicants will be notified of acceptance into the program by Friday, December 30.
